This page provides information regarding care providers which have been found to be operating without a licence and therefore in contravention of the Community Care and Assisted Living Act.

Operating Without a Licence - Child Care

Child care providers may care for only two children or a sibling group, not related to them, at any one time without a community care facility licence. If someone cares for more than the allowed number of children outlined in the Community Care and Assisted Living Act, without a community care facility licence, they may be operating in contravention.

Please note, if the care provider you are looking for is not listed, it may be due to one of the following:

• No complaint has been made in regards to the care provider you are looking for;
• The care provider is not required to be licensed (only 1 or 2 children receiving care);
• The care provider is operating as an exempted program: see Child Care Licensing Regulation Section 3;
• The care provider may be licensed: you can search for a licensed facility here; or
• The care provider is newly licensed and information has not yet been updated.

Operating Without a Licence - Residential Care

Residential Care providers may provide care for only one or two person not related to them by blood or marriage without a community care facility licence. If someone cares for more than the allowed number of persons outlined in the Community Care and Assisted Living Act, without a community care facility licence, they may be operating in contravention.

Please note, If the care provider you are looking for is not listed, it may be due to one of the following:

• No complaint has been made in regards to the care provider you are looking for;
• The care provider is not required to be licensed (only 1 or 2 persons receiving care);
• The care provider may be licensed: you can search for a licensed facility here;
• The care provider is newly licensed and information has not yet been updated; or
• The care provider may be providing one or two prescribed services for more than two persons and be registered as Assisted Living: search here for more information.

Health Authority Community Care Licensing Programs investigate any complaint that a care provider is operating without a licence.
